Wolves are yet to flex their muscles in the transfer window, but signings are expected before the season opener.

Here we take a look at the latest Wolves transfer news and also what their competitors are up to in the Premier League.

Shi sends transfer message

Jeff Shi has promised Wolverhampton Wanderers fans that Fosun will invest in the squad before the transfer market shuts.

Wolves are yet to add a senior player to their ranks this summer and it’s understood Nuno Espirito Santo is hoping for as many as four fresh faces before the window shuts on August 8.

Deals for Belgium international Leander Dendoncker and Raul Jimenez have been made permanent but Wolves’ first team squad is looking a little lightweight following the exits of Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro to Leeds United and Fulham respectively.

With that in mind, chairman Shi has assured supporters not to worry with just three weeks of the window remaining.

He told Sky Sports News: "The team is still the core. If we can't win games on the pitch it will not be helpful for us.

"So we are going to continue to invest in the squad and improve. I know some fans are maybe a little bit nervous, but we are working really hard. So don't worry, we will be ready."

William Saliba

Arsenal are set to confirm the signing of Saint Etienne defender William Saliba, according to reports.

Wolverhampton Wanderers were also believed to be interested in the 18-year-old, but pulled out of the race after the Gunners made it clear they wished to sign him.

Following that, Arsenal appeared to have a clean run to sign the talented youngster, but were given a scare when their North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur declared an interest.

Sport Witness have cited reports from France that stated Spurs did outbid Arsenal for Saliba, but then gave them the opportunity to match their offer, with the player preferring a move to The Emirates.

It is believed that Saliba will cost Unai Emery £30m this summer, with the defender set to return to St Etienne on loan next season.

Pape Abu Cisse

Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in bringing Olympiacos defender Pape Abu Cisse to Molineux, according to reports in Greece.

Nuno Espirito Santo is believed to be in the market for a central defender as he looks to refresh his Wolves squad that defied expectations last season.

Cisse is currently with the Senegal national team, preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations final with Algeria, but his club future remains up in the air.

According to Greek news outlet Sdna (via Sport Witness ), Wolves are interested in the 23-year-old, who has spent the last two years with the Greek giants.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the central defender in recent weeks with a valuation of €10m on his head.
