Two Manchester United players, plus Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden, have been shortlisted for the Golden Boy award.

The prestigious award is given to the best young player in Europe - and is currently held by new Juventus signing Matthijs de Ligt.

Run by Italian publication Tuttosport , the award shortlists 100 players before cutting 20 players each month until a final 20-name shortlist is revealed. The final five are then announced before the winner is chosen.

Now, the top 80 players have been confirmed, with United pair Tahith Chong and Diogo Dalot making the cut. However, teammate Angel Gomes was omitted after making the initial 100-player list.

Foden, who made it down to the final 20 last season, is once again named and would be considered one of the favourites for the award after another fine season at City.

Former City academy player Jadon Sancho is among the other favourites, along with new Atletico winger Joao Felix, Juventus striker Moise Kean, Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr and holder De Ligt.

2017 winner Kylian Mbappe and last year's finalist Trent Alexander-Arnold are not on the list as they are now past the under-21 age cut off.

Chong enjoyed a good season for United last year at youth level and was handed his senior debut by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He is part of the pre-season tour squad this summer and has played 45 minutes in both of United's games so far.

Dalot had a promising start to life at Old Trafford after his £19m move last summer, and played a big role in the famous Champions League comeback win at PSG.

Foden added four more trophies to his collection last term, and scored on his first Premier League start towards the end of the season. He also netted in the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
