Medical Oncologist Dr. Prashant Shankar joins Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Seacoast Cancer Center

DOVER — Wentworth-Douglass Hospital’s Seacoast Cancer Center is pleased to welcome Prashant Shankar, MD, to the Medical Oncology team.

Dr. Shankar is a Medical Oncologist and Hematologist. He earned his medical degree from Kilpauk Medical College, in Chennai, India. He then completed a residency at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and a clinical fellowship in hematology and oncology at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, an affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine.

Dr. Shankar has more than 15 years of experience in hematology/oncology in the community setting and at referral hospitals. He previously worked in the Seacoast area at Portsmouth Regional Hospital from 2008 to 2013. He joins Wentworth-Douglass from Steward Medical Group/Good Samaritan Medical Center in Massachusetts, where he was medical director of Hematology/Oncology.

He has an extensive breadth of experience both in general oncology and hematology and has special interest in lung cancer treatment.

Dr. Shankar arrives at the Seacoast Cancer Center at an exciting time, with the recent opening of the cancer center’s new location in Portsmouth. Both locations will offer the same comprehensive cancer care with medical and radiation oncology, specialty cancer clinics, genetic counseling, clinical trials, rehabilitation, survivorship and wellness programs. In addition to the cancer center, Wentworth-Douglass’s Portsmouth campus has grown to include primary care, walk-in care, and numerous specialty clinics, such as cardiology, general surgery, neurology and more.
