Festivals, food and fun

Taste of Soul NC (Durham Central Park, 502 Foster St., Durham) - Now in its second year, Saturday's event features food trucks, a DJ and tables complete with playing cards for games of Spades, Tunk and more. Tropical Delight Smoothies, Chez Moi and Jay's Italian Ice will be serving, among others.
National Ice Cream Day (Maple View Ice Cream Country Store, 6900 Rock Ridge Road, Hillsborough) - There will be live music by Back Porch Orchestra and the Mason Lovette Band on Sunday. Visit with a calf and enjoy ice cream specials, lawn games, face-painting and more.
One Giant Leap Festival (North Carolina Museum of History, 5 East Edenton Street, Raleigh) - Commemorate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11's lunar landing on Saturday. Indoor and outdoor celebrations will feature hands-on crafts, demonstrations, and activities--including a virtual-reality lab where you can "travel" to space and be on the moon and a bungee-jumping station where you can experience weightlessness like real astronauts. Food trucks will be on-site.
Movie Party with The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (North Carolina Museum of Art, 2110 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh) - Show off your Lego master building skills, try your hand at inventing, and join a dance party at this outdoor movie screening Friday at the North Carolina Museum of Art.
Grl Owned Pop-Up (Traine, 121 Seaboard Ave, Raleigh) - This Saturday event features activities custom designed "by girls, for girls." There will be vendors with the latest on beauty, health, wellness, fashion and more.
Sundress Sunday Day Party (Rialto Theatre - Raleigh, 1620 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh) - Brunch will be cooked on-site and paired with trendy cocktails on Sunday. Stay cool inside and dance to beats from Raleigh's top DJ's, or hang out on the patio for crowd favorites like Flip Cup and Yard Jenga.

Elements: Day Soirée at Marbles (Marbles IMAX, 201 East Hargett Street, Raleigh) - On Saturday night, Marbles opens for an adults-only party featuring cocktails, karaoke and 90s, 2000s, R&B, reggae music and more.
A Mid "Suthern" Night's Dream (The Sutherland Estate and Gardens, 13371 Wake Union Church Road, Wake Forest) - On Friday in Wake Forest, enjoy a four-course dinner and decor celebrating Sutherland's rich architecture and history. Tickets are $30. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit Redefined Courage Foundation.
Rock the Park Concert & Movie Series (Durham Central Park, 502 Foster St., Durham) - Sit back, relax and enjoy family and friends on Friday while grooving to music or watching a movie on a big screen. Both activities are free and open to the public. Food vendors will be on site and food will be available for purchase.

Sublime with Rome (Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary) - See the band with special guest Common Kings Sunday night at Booth Amphitheatre.
The Tom Joyner "One More Time Experience" (Coastal Credit Union Music Park, 3801 Rock Quarry Rd., Raleigh) - Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Kem and Tom Joyner play Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek in Raleigh on Friday.
Nicole Byer (Raleigh Improv, 1224 Parkside Main Street, Cary) - Nicole Byer, an actress, comedian and writer, will headline all weekend. Nicole hosts the baking show "Nailed It" currently streaming on Netflix and has a sitcom loosely based on her life streaming on Facebook Watch called "Loosely Exactly Nicole." She also hosts a podcast called "Why Won't You Date Me."
Greensky Bluegrass (Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary) - Greensky Bluegrass embodies more than just music for its members -- it embodies an ironclad creative bond, familial brotherhood, and a lifelong commitment to fans. See the band Friday night in Cary.
NC Symphony: Annual Beach Party Starring the Embers (Booth Amphitheatre, 8003 Regency Parkway, Cary) - The Embers perform Saturday at Booth Amphitheatre in Cary.
Cary Live: Wyland (Town of Cary Downtown Park, 319 South Academy Street, Cary) - Wyland are an American rock band formed sometime in 2015, somewhere in the Meadowlands of New Jersey. See the free show Saturday at 7 p.m. while enjoying food and drinks from Fortnight, Fresh Ice Cream, Fuzzy's Empanadas and more.
