Lampard, however, insists he is satisfied with the make-up and balance of his backroom team at Stamford Bridge.

Jody Morris and Chris Jones arrived with him from Derby while Joe Edwards and Eddie Newton have moved into first team roles from elsewhere in the Chelsea coaching set-up.

Edwards was a highly-acclaimed young coach from the academy and Newton had been working with the loan players.

'As it stands at the moment there will be no more additions,' said Lampard. 'I'm very happy with what I've got.

'I want a group who all bring something to the table. I have my role as the manager. But I have complete faith in Jody, Joe, Chris and Eddie in their different roles.

'If, along the way, people come up, with a Chelsea connection or not, I will look at that. I like the Chelsea link but it's not the be all and end all.

'At the moment we are working hard and we know where we are going. We believe in ourselves. You have to have a bit of ego in it. It's a big job. It's the Chelsea job.'

Jones led the open training session in Yokohama on Thursday when more than 4,000 fans turned up watch.

Tammy Abraham, who was feeling unwell, was the only player absent.
