RALEIGH – Patients and visitors can now get directions, parking information and point-of-care destination inside WakeMed health system facilities as well as making appointments and reviewing medical records through a new app.

Patient data accessible through WakeMed’s new app

Called the WakeMed All Access App, the platform was developed along with Gozio Health, which is based in Atlanta.

The app, which can be downloaded at no costs, went “live” on Thursday.

The Wake Med Foundation provided funding for the app’s development.

“Improving access and engaging with our patients at each step of their journey before, during and after care is a core value of WakeMed,” said Debbie Laughery, vice president of Marketing & Communications for WakeMed, in a statement.

“WakeMed is a large and growing health system, and the WakeMed All Access App makes it easier for our patients to find their way as they navigate our facilities. This app is another tool to help guide patients to their point of care as well as access the right resources to meet their health needs.”

Apple iOS and Android versions are available.

The backstory

“We interviewed five different companies who work in this space and many factors led to our decision to work with Gozio,” Kristin Kelly Gruman,
Senior Marketing & Communications Specialist at WakeMed Health & Hospitals, told WRAL TechWire when the app’s development was announced last December.

“We chose Gozio because of their exclusive focus on health care and genuine understanding of the patient and family experience. We have seen firsthand how they have dealt with other complex health care systems and their ability to integrate the functionality we need. Gozio is also endorsed by the American Hospital Association.”

The app covers three hospitals and six parking garages as well as more than 80 other WakeMed facilities.

“The interactive maps guide users with step-by-step navigation to doctor’s offices, patient care floors, on-site dining options, pharmacies, nearby restrooms, and other points of interest,” WakeMed says.

“Patients have access to their WakeMed MyChart patient portal and medical records as well as a robust ‘Find a Doctor’ database. App users will also be able to schedule an appointment, reserve their seat in urgent cares, check up-to-date emergency department and urgent care wait times, access virtual urgent care and more,” WakeMed adds.
