Run fun: Dare you Run the Blades at Whitelees Wind Farm?

 

Club 80s, A Rollercoaster of Hits, Ayr Gaiety: The UK's leading 80's show Club 80's hits the road in 2019 featuring icons authentically recreated with live band and dancers. Performing all the hits from that fantastic era from bands like: The Human League, Simple Minds, Kim Wilde, Culture Club, Adam & The Ants, Wham!, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Bananarama, Madness, Bon Jovi and many more.

Summer castle tour, Dundonald Castle, Dundonald: Meet your guide at the visitor centre and collect your keepsake VIP pass, handle weaponry and artifacts and get dressed up before heading to the castle for a tour from 11am to 1pm.

Psychic charity night, Saltcoats Labour Club: Psychic medium Robert Lee and his friends will give you guidance and bring your loved ones forward from the spirit world using their psychic and mediumship abilities. All funds raised will go to help the North Ayrshire Foodbank.

Veteran Drop-in Session, Poppy Scotland, Kilmarnock: Drop in sessions for veterans are running on Friday afternoons in Kilmarnock town centre at its Poppy Scotland Welfare Centre in King Street from 1pm to 3pm. The sessions offer ex-veterans the chance to chat and share a cuppa. There is also a counsellor available too.

Run the Blades, Whitelees Windfarm: This event boasts three runs; a 10K, a half marathon and the 50K ultramarathon.

Creative play and sensory sessions, CGulls, Troon: Enjoy messy play, storytelling, songtime and sensory sessions for little ones.

Saturday, July 20:

Fun ahoy: Make a date for Dunure's Festival of the Sea this weekend

 

Dunure Festival of the Sea, Dunure:  You can enjoy live music, local seafood, and plenty of fun at this festival. This unique festival is set on and around the beautiful historic harbour at Dunure village which doubles up as an Outlander film location. Taste the best in freshly caught seafood while enjoying harbourside views and Dunure Castle as a backdrop. Take part in seafaring activities, visit stalls and purchase a raffle ticket or two. Get your dancing shoes on as you toe tap along to some live music. But it’s not just for the professionals as an open mic session, hosted by Stevie McCann, kicks off from 1pm to showcase some of the best of local talent. Among the busy line up of live music is The Cafe orchestra, The Jug Band Jookers, Anchor Line Music, The Mid Life Blues Band and Blackleaf 40. And old pals The Barrstools are back to finish the show at 9.30pm. The six-piece local band play a unique blend of Celtic and American folk music with an eclectic mix of the accordion, guitar, banjo, double bass, pipes, whistle and vocals. This family friendly event is free entry but better yet all money raised goes right back into the community.

Soundwave, Rozelle Park, Ayr, July 20 and Sunday, July 21: Live music festival featuring the best of the UK tribute bands featuring the Fu Fighters, Deacon Blues, Simple Minded, The Jam'd, Paul Thorpe as Elvis and Flash Tribute to Queen. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Sawlase Music Festival, Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21: SAW Leisure And Sports Enterprise have organised this three venue music festival in New Cumnock Working Men’s Club, to help raise awareness of mental health issues. Great bands and solo performers giving up their time for a great cause. The venues are New Cumnock Working Men’s Club, New Cumnock Bowling Club and New Cumnock Town Hall.

North Ayrshire Open Art Exhibition, Racquet Hall, Eglinton Park: This is the last day of this exhibition that boasts work from artists throughout Ayrshire. Entry is free and you can even enjoy a stroll round the park if you pay this exhibition a visit.

PWE Eighth Anniversary show in memory of Adrian 'Lionheart' McCallum, Citadel Leisure Centre, Ayr: Following the tragic passing of UK wrestling legend, ICW World Champion and owner of Ayr based Pro Wrestling Elite, Adrian 'Lionheart' McCallum, his friends in the Scottish wrestling community have come together to ensure that the show goes ahead in his honour. Among the wrestlers on the night will be Ayrshire sensation, Grado alongside PWE Heavyweight Champion Jackie Polo and inaugural PWE Champion Andy Wild.

Sing song: If you want to meet new people and try your hand at singing, head to Ayr this weekend and meet Infinity Choir

 

Come Sing Day, Ayrshire Infinity Choir, Ayr Town Hall, Ayr: This is a must for anyone with a passion for singing. Whether you are experienced or trying it out for the first time, everyone is welcome. Join like minded people for a fun filled day led by the inspirational choir leaders Siobhan McAuley and Aimee Penman. The open day is from 10am to 2pm.

Handmade in Ayr market, The Grain Exchange, Ayr: A new monthly market showcasing the wealth of local creative talent with stands showing artist, jewellery, glass, textiles, wood, cards, candles and more.  The market runs from 11am to 4pm.

Comedy at the Club, Dunlop Bowling Club, Kilmarnock: One of Scotland’s veteran acts and Still Game’s undertaker Iain Duncan Sheathing, Bruce Morton headlines this night of laughs. It also features Viv Gee, comedian, poet and actor who has been performing on the UK comedy circuit since 1995 and who also lectures in stand-up comedy at the University of Strathclyde. Along with Liam Farrelly and hosted by Marc Jennings, two-time Scottish Comedian of the Year finalist.

Have a go coastal rowing, Scottish Maritime Museum, Irvine: Volunteers on the building communities by building boats have spent the last few months working with the Scottish Maritime Museum to build two St Ayles skiffs. Now these two boats, the Garnock and the Avocet, will be finished and ready to go in the water. To celebrate you can try your hand at rowing one of the new skiffs and discover the wildlife of the Bogside SSSI.

Kid's club fun day, Longpark, Western Road, Kilmarnock:  Kids Club North West, Northwest Community Action Plan, North West Walking football and the Play Forum will be hosting a fun day this Saturday. There will be arts and crafts, inflatables, face painting, sand art and Killie legends for the whole family to enjoy.

Food market: Dumfries House has a local produce food market this weekend

Sunday, July 21:

Dumfries House Food Market, Dumfries House, New Cumnock:  All produce is sourced from less than 60 mile radius ensuring the food is truly fresh and local. This month we will also have some selected local crafters. The market runs from 11am to 4pm.
