Country supergroup Alabama will be inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville.
Alabama will also receive the hall's first Lifetime Achievement Award during a ceremony on October 22 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, organizers said.
Alabama, which includes singer Randy Owen, bassist Teddy Gentry and guitarist/fiddler Jeff Cook, are currently in the midst of a 50th anniversary tour.
"Getting the first Lifetime Achievement Award and going in the Musicians Hall of Fame is very humbling," Owen said in a press release. "I am thankful to be a musician, a singer, a songwriter and for being able to make a living through touring and recording for the last 50 years."
"To be in the Musicians Hall of Fame along with so many of my peers is one of the greatest honors we have ever received," Gentry said.
Cook added, "This a great honor. I always thought of myself as a musician first."
Alabama was formed in 1969 in Fort Payne as Wildcountry. The band changed its name to Alabama in 1977.
The band have several multi-platinum albums and hits, including "Tennessee River," "Mountain Music," "Dixieland Delight," "The Closer You Get," and "Song of the South."
Other inductees to the Musicians Hall of Fame include Steve Wariner, Felix Cavaliere, The Surfaris, Don Everly, The Original Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, The Nashville A-Team — the Players, The Muscle Shoals Horns, Owen Bradley, Billy Sherrill and Bob Taylor.
