For anyone who has missed the huge headlines about the latest example of the sin of cultural appropriation , here it is in a nutshell — Rihanna shot a cover for Harpers dressed in an Asian-influenced outfit.
Last year she dared to pose for the cover of Vogue with ultra-skinny eyebrows. One critic wrote that her Mexican-American heart was “deeply confused and deeply annoyed” — apparently only Latinos can have ultra-skinny brows.
We have a bit too much”correctness” that is not only taking all the fun away, but is pitting people against people, creating a society of grumps and sourpusses.
