Irani gets NHAI to act fast on Amethi roads
NEW DELHI: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the road transport ministry swung in to action to carry out maintenance work on NHs in Amethi within hours of Union minister Smriti Irani raising the issue with road transport minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday. Irani, who snatched the constituency from the Gandhi family, took to Twitter to announce how the work has been fast tracked.

In her tweet Irani said that she met Gadkari on Wednesday morning where she raised the issue of making three highways pothole free that pass through her constituency. Irani said her team discussed issues relating to NH-330A, 232 and 56 with the highways minister and flagged the need for construction of drains and starting work on street lights and the bypass. “I thank Nitinji for starting the work by the evening,” she tweeted.
Sources said Irani during her recent visit to her constituency had spotted potholes on the highway stretches. “We had awarded the work and so we could start maintenance quickly. The major construction work will start soon,” a senior NHAI official said.
