GTA chairman writes to CM over security of Hills citizens in Delhi
Darjeeling: GTA chairman Anit Thapa has written to chief minister Mamata Banerjee, appraising the latter about frequent assaults on people from the Hills living and working in Delhi and requested her to intervene.
Pranay Pradhan (27), a chef working in a restaurant in south Delhi’s Kotla, Mubarakpur, was assaulted by three miscreants. Three others, including a lady, also from the Hills were assaulted by the miscreants.
Apparently, Pradhan and his friends had objected to the offensive comments made by the attackers.
The GTA chairman said such incidents was creating fear and panic among people from the Hills, who are working in the national capital. “Our youths are employed and working in Delhi and other metropolitan cities,” Thapa said.
Pradhan was hit by wooden planks on his head by the attackers and is under treatment in an ICU in a Safdarjung hospital. The GTA chairman requested the Bengal CM to take up the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and to ensure safety and security of the Gorkha community in Delhi. Mubarakpur police station has started a case under sections 307 and 341 against the miscreants and two have been held.
