KOLKATA: Two men in their 30s were arrested at the
Kolkata airport for carrying unaccounted 1.04 lakh
US dollars worth Rs 71.64 lakh hidden in the false bottom of their hand baggage on Friday afternoon.
The men who had tickets for a Mumbai bound flight were nabbed by CISF officials during the pre-embarkation security check at the domestic security hold area. Both were found carrying 520 USD of denomination 100 each wrapped in a cloth bundle and hidden at the false bottom of their hand baggage.
The men initially identified them as
Dilip Kumar Chawla and
Nihal Vashumal Malhotra but after investigation, it was found the men were carrying fake
Aadhar cards and their real names were
Rahul D Sukhwani and Vishal V Bhatija respectively.
The men were arrested and the seized money was handed over to the customs department.
Also on Friday, two men who had reached Kolkata in an IndiGo flight from
Bangkok were arrested at the Kolkata airport for carrying 1.2kg gold valued Rs. 42.12 lakh. Customs officials said, the men had hidden the gold strips inside their rectum.
