Proteas teammates will be up against each other for the highest accolade on offer at the CSA Awards later this year.

CSA will be holding the gala event on Saturday, 3 August to honour the country’s top cricketers at the Sun Square arena in Pretoria.

The biggest prize on offer is the Cricketer of the Year award, which will be contested by fast bowler Kagiso Rabada – who has won it twice before – as well as 2017 winner Quinton de Kock, with Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis and veteran spinner Imran Tahir.

Rabada, along with du Plessis, scored the most nominations in the 2019 edition and are set to square off for the SA Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year and ODI Cricketer of the Year, as well as two more categories not dependent on a judging panel – the SA Players’ Player of the Year and SA Fans’ Cricketer of the Year awards. The latter a determined by votes cast in.

For the Test Cricketer of the Year award, it’s Rabada who will be fighting it out with de Kock, fast bowler Dale Steyn and slow left-arm bowler Keshav Maharaj, while Rassie van der Dussen will be up against fellow batsmen Reeza Hendricks, David Miller, as well as all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo for the ODI equivalent.
