KOLKATA: Three persons from the city were arrested by the Kolkata Police Detective Department for allegedly duping several people by pretending as officials of a noted e-commerce company, a senior police officer said Saturday.
Gularaj Ahamed, Vishal Sharma and Mohammed Sadik were apprehended from two locations late Friday night.
Their modus operandi was alluring people over phone and emails to accept a lucky draw scheme purportedly offered by the e-commerce platform and make them send money to some bank accounts, the IPS officer said.

Police launched an investigation after the e-commerce company lodged a complaint at Hare Street police station in December last year about the incident.
Documents such as the customer data base, CPUs and hard disks of computers were seized from the trio and the police are interrogated them to find out "whether or not they are linked to a big racket", the police officer said.
Asked how many people and the total amount of money they managed to dupe, he said, "We are yet to get the exact figure of how many people have been duped and the amount of ill-gotten money that they have managed is yet to be evaluated."
