KTR distributes doubled pension papers to poor

Hyderabad: TRS working president K Tarakarama Rao today said the TRS government has kept its promise of increasing Asara pension by five times i.e. from Rs 200 to Rs 1,000 immediately after assuming power in the State. He also asked the people not to give a single rupee to anyone to get a two-bedroom facility under the poor housing scheme. The former minister distributed the pension order copies to the beneficiaries in his home segment Sircilla, along with local MLAs and the District Collector. 

 
Speaking on the occasion, KTR said the pensioners will get doubled pension in their bank accounts. He said the old-aged persons, widows, and single women will get Rs 2,016 as against previous Rs 1,000 from this month, while physically disabled will get Rs 3,016 as against the previous Rs 1,500. He also claimed that the Telangana State was the only state in the country to give pensions to beedi workers also. 


Stating that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was fully aware of perennial problems of the poor and committed to increasing the income of the State and distributing it to the poor to help them overcome their problems. Besides, the State government was providing Rs one lakh to poor families towards the marriage of their girl-children. 
Referring to the two-bedroom housing to the poor, KTR said the government was giving Rs 2 lakh worth double bedroom house free of cost and appealed to people to wait and get benefits and not pay money to anyone as the houses will be allotted by picking beneficiaries by a lottery system. The TRS working president pointed out that the previous Congress government spent Rs 70,000 on each Indiramma house which was unfit for human habitation.  


Besides, the government was reducing pension eligibility age to 57 years, he added. He also explained that the State government was giving pension to another seven to eight lakh people in addition to the existing 45 lakh pensioners in the State by reducing their age limit.
