HYDERABAD: Two youngsters who were reportedly upset with their cousin Sheikh Saddam allegedly beheaded the latter in full public view at Nampally in Nalgonda district on Saturday evening. After the gruesome murder, the duo walked into the Nampally police station with the severed head and surrendered. They had an argument over Saddam not taking care of their cousin’s children.
Around 6 pm, Mohammed Ghouse, a bike mechanic, and Irfan, a car driver, both 22, picked up an argument with their 26-year-old cousin Sheikh Saddam, a car driver, for not taking care of the two children of Razia, who was related to both the accused and the victim, police said.

When Saddam flatly refused to shoulder the responsibility, Ghouse, in the fit of rage, picked up a knife from a nearby coconut vend and started attacking Saddam on his neck. A little later, Irfan took the weapon from Ghouse and he too attacked Saddam. The head got detached from the torso due to the repeated blows, police added.
Passersby were shocked by the turn of events. The two assailants left the torso on the road, picked up the severed head and went straight to the nearby police station.
Nalgonda district additional superintendent of police, Padmanabha Reddy, said Razia, a widow with two children, had allegedly developed an illicit relationship with Saddam. He took her to Hyderabad and got her employment at a house in Saroornagar. “Due to his alleged harassment, Razia committed suicide in 2017. A case was registered at the Saroornagar police station. Following her death, Saddam promised to take care of Razia’s two children. However, for the past two years, he ignored them. As a result, they bore a grudge against Saddam," Padmanabha Reddy said.
Based on their confession, police recovered the victim’s torso and booked a case.
