HYDERABAD: Telangana DGP M Mahender Reddy has informed the high court that they are getting a special software for uploading the information pertaining to the road accidents causing loss of lives, in order to pass the information directly to the motor accident tribunals.
The DGP said this in an affidavit filed before the court which earlier sought to know the cause of delay in furnishing the accidents' information to the tribunals.

The bench of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Shameem Akther, which took up the cause of the families of those killed in the road accidents, expressed concern over the plight of such families as they lost their breadwinner on one hand and they were not getting the compensation on the other.
There were Supreme Court guidelines that directed the SHOs to furnish information about accidents to the tribunals within one month.
Explaining further about the new software in his affidavit, the DGP said, "A provision in the crime and criminal tracking network system (CCTNS) is being made for the purpose of uploading accidents information which would create a real-time data and the same will be shared with tribunals within no time. This software is currently being developed and once it is ready, it will go live too and will help us address the issue in a more comprehensive manner," he said.

The bench earlier sought details of the accidents along with the cases in which the reports were sent or not sent to the tribunals. Though, the DGP last month had presented some figures on the accidents of 2009, the bench sought fresh report about accidents occurred between January and June of 2019.
The DGP in his report said that there were 10,423 road accidents which took place in Telangana during January-June 2019 and that the respective SHOs furnished all the information required to the jurisdictional tribunals.
"Apart from creating awareness among SHOs through regular circulars, we have also created a special mechanism at CID office for the purpose and an IG rank officer is monitoring the task," Mahender Reddy said.
