HYDERABAD: A Class 8 student allegedly committed suicide after failing to be elected class representative at school. Ch Charan Kumar’s body was found crushed beyond recognition by railway staff on Friday morning on the track between Chityal Station and Ramannapet Station.
The student of Krishnaveni Talent School in Ramannapet lost the elections to a fellow girl student.

"On July 16, we held model elections to choose class representatives. His family claims he was depressed about losing the election," said Nalgonda Railway Police sub-inspector B Achyutam.
“He told us that he lost the fight by six votes and was upset. On Thursday, he distributed sweets in school saying he was the second leader in class. I heard from his friends that a few students said there was no such thing as a ‘second leader’,” said Charan’s mother Vijaya Laxmi.
Charan went back home with his brother after meeting their mother at the family’s kirana store. Soon after reaching his residence, Charan left saying he wished to go back to the kirana store.
“I met him after school. He looked very dull. When he did not return home till 8, we went out to search for him,” the mother said.
The family approached Ramannapet Police Station around 12 am on Friday to register a missing complaint. "Station master M Preeti informed railway police about the body found near the railway tracks between Chityal Station and Ramannapet Station at 7.05 am on Friday morning," added the officer.

While no suicide note was found, the family suspect the boy must have committed suicide after losing the elections. Charan’s school, however, refuted the claim.
"The election took place on July 16, and two class representatives were elected, a girl and a boy. The next day, he got sweets for the class. He spent over Rs 1000 for the sweets. We suspect some dispute in the family led to his suicide. The family runs a business. We found that he had taken the money without informing his parents," said G Narendra Reddy, the school’s correspondent. Charan’s mother, however, said it was with their knowledge that the boy bought sweets.
“After the case came to light, we spoke to the school and found that both the girl and the boy were chosen class representatives. The girl distributed chocolates and he distributed sweets after winning,” said mandal education officer, Ramannapet, S Durgaiah.
Following the incident, a suspicious death case was registered with the railway police. The 13-year-old’s body was handed over to his family after preliminary medical examination at Ramannapet Government Hospital.
