(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka: Dhan Bahadur Oli, Acting Ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh announced the launch of Dhaka-Kathmandu direct flights on July 18 at the embassy.
The acting ambassador highlighted the huge potential of Bangladesh-Nepal bilateral relations urging to increase connectivity between the two countries.
The carrier will be operating its A320-214 narrow bodied aircraft on the route, configured with 150 Economy Class and 8 Premium Economy Class seats from July 22.
Dilli Prasad Acharya, First Secretary of the Embassy of Nepal, Vijay Shrestha, Vice President, Administration, Himalaya Airlines and Sushil Kumar Basket, Country Manager of Himalaya Airlines, Bangladesh were also present on the occasion, among others.
The direct flight services aim to bring the people of Bangladesh and Nepal closer, said the ambassador.
Sushil Kumar mentioned that the airfare of the flight will be comparatively much cheaper than those already being operated by other airlines on the same route.
Bangladesh being a major volume market for Nepalese tourism, full focus on getting Bangladeshi tourists onboard has been placed.
Kathmandu holds significant prospective to serve as a transit hub for Bangladeshi passengers since Himalaya Airlines operates regular flights to Middle East destinations such as Doha, Dubai and Dammam.
'We take pleasure to announce our connectivity to another Asian destination – Dhaka - shouldering our role in contributing to the promotion of tourism and business amongst neighbouring countries,' said Vijay Shrestha, Vice President, Administration, Himalaya Airlines.
The airline will be operating three weekly flights. The airline currently has a fleet of three new Airbus 320-200. The new flight schedule offers expedient travel options for leisure and business travellers.
