We are a creative bunch here in Lancashire.

That being said, when was the last time an artist from the county really went massive, or 'made it'? Does that even matter? Can you even get massive in 2019 without putting your face on a ketchup bottle?

It'd be nice to see, at least.

Here are ten emerging Lancashire artists that deserve to go supernova and who knows? If more people give them a listen maybe they will.

Disclaimer: If you've heard of any or all of these we congratulate you on being dead cool and look forward to your email about it.

1. Pale Waves

Preston

This indie-pop quartet are possibly the most commercially successful name on this list, having found themselves festival and radio playlist regulars following the release of their debut album My Mind Makes Noises.

Frontwoman Heather Baron-Gracie met drummer Ciara Doran at Manchester Uni back in 2014. While the band were formed in Manchester, Heather hails from Preston so they are really ours.

Blending pop hooks with rattling indie choruses and jolting 80s inspired beats - the band sound a lot like the Human League and the 1975 came together to make something better.

Catch them at Leeds and Latitude Festival or on their UK tour after the summer.

Human League meets modern indie but with actual musical talent.

2. Boston Manor

Blackpool

Blackpool has a plethora of great new musical talent and this is just one of many.

Fusing old-style emo with a brash and unapologetically British brand of new-wave rock, Boston Manor are everything that is right about alternative music right now.

The quintet released their second studio album Welcome To The Neighbourhood last year and are currently eating their way through tour dates and festival slots.

If you're a fan of Don Broco or You Me At Six, these boys are sure to catch your eye.

They aren't subtle but that's why we like them.

3. Jekyll

Blackpool

Fans of doom-laden, stadium sized rock will love this four-piece.

Jekyll are due to make appearances at Y Not Festival and Jimmy's in Manchester.

Make sure you check out their new single Marionette.

4. Pip Hall

Preston

If you like haunting vocals with slick acoustics then Pip is the one for you.

A solo artist from Preston, Pip Hall has already won herself a slot at the prestigious SXSW festival in America, gigs in New York and more besides despite still being unsigned.

Recently her single So Easy can be heard over the Radio X airwaves and she will also be heading to the Lytham Festival to play alongside Jekyll.

Make sure you listen too her new album Everything Before.

5. Emily Rhodes

Blackpool

Many people will never play at a major festival alongside some of the world's biggest artists but teenager Emily Rhodes did it for the third time this summer.

The solo artist played on the same bill as Kylie, the Human League and Rod Stewart when she took to the stage at Lytham Festival.

She's the typical singer songwriter, just a voice and her guitar but judging by her music that's all she needs.

6. Darlia

Blackpool

For a band that still haven't released a full-length alum, Darlia have done remarkably well for themselves.

Their last release, an eight track mini album called Petals, was full of hook-laden rock that screams old school hair metal meets modern British alt-rock.

Whilst the quartet haven't been active since 2017 they are still very much a band and keen to release their debut album soon.

In the meantime check out lead singer Nathan Day's solo work.

Darlia could be your next favourite rock band.

7. Charlotte OC

Blackburn

Also known as Charlotte Mary O'Connor, this Blackburn pop artist grew up in Blackburn, attending Westholme School.

Her gospel and soul infused catchy music deserves so much more attention than she already receives with BBC Rado One tipping her for future success on several occasions.

Charlotte's second full length record, Careless People, was a masterpiece, spawning four superb singles and sending her into the festival stratosphere where she appeared at South By South West and BBC Radio One's Big Weekend.

Check out her latest single Better Off On My Own.

Blackburn's finest Charlotte OC.

8. DJ Lee Bryan

Burnley

DJs sometimes get a bad rap but you can't deny that Burnley's Lee Bryan has some serious talent.

The tiny northern town seems to punch well above it's weight when it comes to success, housing a prominent Radio One presenter, Alistair Campbell, a Premier League football team and this, soon to be superstar, DJ.

Lee has already featured several times on Radio X and continues to mix dark and heavy electronics into a seamless catchy mix.

Hear his latest release Crazy Neon Signs.

9. Octopus Montage

Blackpool

Metal music isn't everyone's cup of tea but we are sure the name Octopus Montage is.

The fifth artist on this list to hail from the seaside resort of Blackpool, this four-piece continue to pump out  some of the catchiest metalcore material since time began.

Their first EP, Reborn...again, has just been released and the guys are getting regular air time. Expect to see them tearing up the festival circuit soon enough.

Four people, eight arms - just like an Octopus.

10. Bulbeater

Pendle

We leave you with the smallest and possibly the least known band on this list.

Bulbeater may have only formed this year and have just two songs in their arsenal to date but they have the potential to go places.

The three piece hail from Pendle where the witchy vibes add  to a especially twisted brand of stripped down rock music.

Just give them a listen on Souncloud, it will be worth it.
