Disney Channel have confirmed the air date for the third film in the Descendants series after Cameron Boyce 's tragic death.

The actor, who played Carlos de Vil in the movie franchise, died aged just 20 on July 6 after suffering a seizure in his sleep.

His family, friends, co-stars and fans were left devastated by his sudden death, just one month ahead of the film's release.

Now, Disney Channel bosses have confirmed that they'll go ahead with the release of Descendants 3 on August 2.

Sharing a trailer online, bosses said: "We got all the ways to be rotten to the core 'cause it's good to be BAD! #Descendants3 is coming to Disney Channel on August 2, 2019!"

Cameron is seen in the trailer alongside his co-stars Dove Cameron, who plays Mal, Booboo Stewart, who stars as Jay, and Sofia Carson, who portrays Evie.

Fans took to the comment section to say they're excited for the release, but worried that they'll get too emotional while watching it.

One said: "I’m not sure if i will be able to watch this"

Another commented: "Watching this knowing Cameron is no longer with us will never make watching this movie the same"

And one posted: "I cry so much watching this, I can't imagine how I'm gin a cry when the movie is out"

Cameron had been working on some other movies and TV shows before his sad death, according to IMDB.

A TV show he starred in, called Paradise City, is currently in post-production and due to be released some time this year.

He stars as Simon in six episodes of the first series.

Cameron also played Cal in a movie called Runt, which is also in post-production.

The star had also filmed a role in TV series Mrs Fletcher, which is in post-production at the moment.

Since Cameron's death, a charitable foundation has been set up in his honour.

Sofia shared the news on Instagram , writing: "The Cameron Boyce Foundation has launched, guided by the mission that was at Cam’s heart and soul.

"We are the lucky ones that got to live at the same time as Cameron Boyce. Together, we will keep his heart and legacy alive. Link in bio. This is for you Cam."
