NASHIK: An inebriated farmer from Nashik Road allegedly poisoned both his 18-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son on Friday night after the college-going girl asked him for Rs 1,000 to purchase a dress and study material.
The children were rushed to the Nashik civil hospital by their mother. While the boy is out of danger, the girl is critical and has been shifted to a private hospital.
The farmer, Rushikesh Pandharinath Borade (48), of Manik chowk in Shinde village, was arrested on Saturday and has been remanded in police custody till Tuesday.

Assistant police inspector K L Sonane of the Nashik Road police station said the girl asked Borade for the money when he returned home after consuming alcohol around 10.30pm.

When the boy tried to intervene, Borade beat him up and poured pesticide in his mouth too.
Sonone said that Borade’s wife, who was feeding their three-year-old son at the time, started shouting for help and managed to drive her husband out of the house. With help from the neighbours, she rushed the two teenagers to Bytco hospital on Nashik Road. Both were later taken to the Nashik civil hospital from where the girl was shifted to a private hospital.
