Nitish Kumar orders for a research on suspected meteorite found in Bihar's Madhubani

PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday ordered for a research on suspected meteorite that was found at Mahadeva village under Laukahi police station in Madhubani on Monday.
Nitish, after having a look at the suspected meteorite brought to his official residence at 1, Anney Marg here from Madhubani village, said that the celestial object would be placed at Patna-based ‘Bihar Museum’ for public view.
After that it would be sent to the Science Museum for further study and research.
The suspected meteorite, weighing more than 13 kg and having magnetic properties, was found in a paddy field at Mahadeva village on July 22 (Monday).
"A group of farmers were working in the paddy fields when they heard an unusually loud thud. When they looked around to find the reason behind the sound, they spotted the object lying in a hole - about five feet deep,” Madhubani DM Shirsat Kapil Ashok said.
DM further said, the villagers extracted the object with some effort and informed government officials who took it into their possession. Later the suspected meteorite was placed in the district treasury. It was sent to Patna on Wednesday at the request of state government.
