HYDERABAD: Two boys who went missing on Tuesday evening in Mujahid Nagar in Nizamabad district, were found dead inside a parked car near the residence of the two children on Wednesday. Police said that they died due to suffocation.
Nizamabad I Town police said that two cousins Mohammed Badruddin,5, and Syed Riyaz,10, were playing near their residence at around 5pm on Tuesday. While playing, the two children got into the car which was owned by a neighbour, Abdul Rahman, when no one saw them.
Later, the car doors accidentally got locked.
Meanwhile, the parents of both the children started to look for the boys and they made a vain search till 2.40am on Wednesday. At around 2.40am on Wednesday, the car owner Abdul Rehman opened the car door and to his shock, he found both the boys on the rear seat in an unconscious state.
Immediately, both the children were shifted to a nearby hospital, where they were declared brought dead due to suffocation.
"The owner of the Hyundai Verna, in which the two boys died, do not use the car frequently and hence the battery got discharged. On Wednesday wee hours too, the owner opened the car door, to turn the engine on, and found the boys dead," Nizamabad I Town police told TOI.
It was at 2.30pm on Tuesday both the cousins left the house and they were notice at Idga play ground by Syed Riyaz’s brother Syed Arbaz. Later they went near Abdul Rahman residence. Generally he parks his old car on the road, which is next to his residence.
During the investigation, police verified the CCTV footage in which it showed that both the boys opening the car door and got into the vehicle.
"The car is a 2006 model and there is no system of automatic door locking. One has to manually lock the door by using a key after coming out of the car. Rehman did locke the car door but it seems that due to malfunctioning it remained unlocked. As a result, the boys could open the door but after they closed door, it got locked. There is no foul play in this case,’’ police said.
