East Zone Sainik Schools Sports and Cultural fest : Sainik School Imphal emerge basketball winners, Sainik School Purulia claim volleyball title

Imphal, July 25 2019:
Hosts, Sainik School Imphal clinched the basketball title after their fourth win today at the East Zone Sainik Schools Sports and Cultural Festival/Championship while Sainik School Purulia became the volleyball champions with three wins on the trot.
Sainik School Goalpara, Assam on the other hand laid their hands on the hockey title after an impressive run.
Sainik School Imphal also claimed the U-14 boys and U-17 boys football titles with their unbeaten feats at this zonal event which will conclude tomorrow.

Day 4 events
Basketball
The fourth day of the zonal event saw Th Ronel score a record 46 points to help the hosts post a huge 107-34 win against Sainik School Chhingchhip to ensure the title.
Sananganba M (14), S Pareihanba Luwang (10) and K Tlangthanmawia (12) also aided the Imphal side with double digit scores in this one side match while Laldinpuia Fanai, L Ralte, Timothy CL Chhana, K Lalthazuala picked 2 points each.
Aigoo Chabungbam, H Zenith Mangang and L Jasubanta also fetched 5, 4 and 8 points respectively for the victorious side.
Lalremrual Fila (10) and Rualkima Pachuan (9) led the scoring for the Mizoram side in this match.
Lalchharliana (5), Hanpualfela Fanai (6), Vanlal Chhanhima (2) and K Vanlal Rahlua (2) on the other hand made up the remaining points for the team.
In other matches of the day, Sainik School Goalpara beat Sainik School Punglwa 75-56 and Sainik School Purulia thrashed Sainik School Chhingchhip by 96-20 points.
Hockey
Sainik School Goalpara enjoyed a 3-0 win against Sainik School Imphal to claim the title of the hockey competition.
Dhirty Raj chipped in twice early in the 3rd and the 4th for the wining side while the other goal came from his teammate, Ghanashyam in the 12th minute of the match.
Sainik School Purulia and Sainik School Punglwa played out a goalless draw in a match played earlier.
Volleyball
Sainik School Goalpara managed to beat the hosts team in straight set (25-7, 25-17) in the last match of the volleyball competition day.
Sainik School Purulia which registered three of the three wins were named the winners of the event and its player, Nilam Kumar Mishra was adjudged best player.
Football
The last match of the U-14 boys' football competition saw Sainik School Punglwa seal a 3-1 win against Sainik School East Siang.
Two own goals, Zingbai (15') and Nangwang Thangha (30') helped Nagaland side post the 2-0 lead while its player Bumang managed the third goal in the 55th minute after Tamang Jumut of the East Siang side pulled back a goal during the additional time of the first half.
The last match of the U-17 boys competition saw Sainik School Purulia and Sainik School Goalpara play out a goalless draw.
