Pune police nab two men from Satara district, recover counterfeit notes

The Pune city crime branch on Sunday intercepted a sports utility vehicle at Rasta Peth and recovered counterfeit currency notes of denominations ranging from Rs 2000 to Rs 100. The two men in the car were in possession of fake currency notes collectively worth Rs 64,500.

PUNE: The Pune city crime branch on Sunday intercepted a sports utility vehicle at Rasta Peth and recovered counterfeit currency notes of denominations ranging from Rs 2000 to Rs 100. The two men in the car were in possession of fake currency notes collectively worth Rs 64,500.
A case has been registered against the two men with the Samarth police station.

A team comprising of senior inspector Rajendra Mohite, sub-inspector Nikhil Pawar, police constables Feroz Bagwan and Ramesh Garud nabbed the two men identified as Shubham Kshirsagar (24) and Rahul Vachkal (20). Both the accused are residents of Lonand in Satara district.
The police have booked a man, who allegedly printed the counterfeit notes and handed them over to Kshirsagar and Vachkal.
The team nabbed the men on a public road located near Quartergate. Kshirsagar is involved in the livestock business in Satara while Vachkal is a farmer.
According to the police, Kshirsagar and Vachkal came in contact with the man, who has been booked, about a year ago. He would hand over the counterfeit currency notes to the two men. The men would later visit Pune city with the counterfeit notes and exchange the notes by buying articles from smaller stores. They accused would get a commission by spending the notes, the police said.
Police said that they are on the lookout for the third suspect in the case.
