No trace of alcohol was found in the medical report of the driver of the car involved in an accident in Shahdara's Vivek Vihar area in which two people were killed, police said on Monday.

"The medical report of Lakshay stated that he was not under the influence of alcohol when the incident happened. He has a driving licence," a senior police officer said.

The accident occurred at around 5.30 am on Sunday. The car was reportedly speeding when it rammed into a divider in Vivek Vihar, killing Prabhjot Singh, 18, and Rubal, 20. Keshav, 21, Arshpreet Kaur, 19, and Lakshay sustained injured.

According to the police, Rubal and Kaur were students of Delhi University and the car was being driven by Lakshay.

The injured were rushed to the GTB Hospital, where Prabhjot Singh and Rubal were declared brought dead, they said.

The driver had lost control of the car due to over-speeding, officials said, adding that the victims were returning after celebrating Kaur''s birthday.

Keshav, who was stated to be critical, has been shifted to the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, they said, adding that further details are awaited.
