Dasna-Hapur stretch to open soon
DELHI: Driving down from Dasna to Hapur will become seamless from next week, while commuters using the Delhi Border-Dasna stretch will have to wait till December for a smooth drive. Road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari is scheduled to inaugurate the 22-km stretch from Dasna to Hapur on Tuesday, which has been widened to 10 lanes.
NHAI officials said covering this stretch would take less than 20 minutes as straight going traffic can use the main six-lane highway.
For local traffic, service roads of two lanes on both sides have been built and such vehicles don't need to come on to the main highway.
"Two flyovers at Pilakhuwa and Masuri totalling about seven km will bring the maximum relief to commuters as these will act as bypass to the two congested towns. This will also bring down vehicular pollution as there will no congestion on this stretch," said an NHAI official.
They said the stretch has 11 underpasses, two flyovers, two foot over bridges and a major bridge. "Widening of this stretch was a challenging task as the daily vehicle flow is about 45,000 and there were 450 encroachments on the project corridor," said an NHAI official.
