PUNE: Alliance Air, a subsidiary of national carrier
Air India, plans to take over Air Deccan’s Pune-Nashik route, suspended since last October.
Three months ago, Alliance Air started a Pune-Belagavi flight under the national regional connectivity scheme (
UDAN).
An Air India official confirmed they were mulling the move. “It is still in the planning stage,” the official said.
Officials in the know said Alliance Air could start the route in two months.
“Air Deccan had won four flights from
Maharashtra under UDAN — Jalgaon-Mumbai, Mumbai-Jalgaon, Pune-Nashik and Nashik-Pune. However, the carrier suspended all four flights in October last year due to operational reasons,” a source said.
