Nagpur: Maharashtra Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is currently undertaking the two-month-long Maha Janadesh Yatra’, on Friday claimed that the Opposition will be wiped out in the forthcoming Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters at a press conference in Wardha, before embarking on the second day of his yatra, Mr Fadnavis claimed that the tremendous response from the public to the yatra is nothing but an acknowledgment of his good governance. The chief minister also dismissed the Opposition’s apprehensions regarding the EVMs. ”EVMs are not new in the system. Congress and the NCP ruled for 10 years in the state as well as the country after winning elections via EVMs,” he remarked.  On the electoral alliance with Shiv Sena, the chief minister said that it would be beneficial to both parties if they were able to reach a pact.

Mr Fadnavis reached Wardha via Arvi, after kick-starting his yatra at Mozri near Amravati, which was also attended by Union defence minister Rajnath Singh. He resumed his yatra from Wardha on Friday morning. The chief minister arrived in Nagpur and received a rousing welcome. After Nagpur, Mr Fadnavis proceeded to Katol and Saoner. He will resume his yatra on Saturday, when he visits Kamptee and Moudoa on his way to Bhandara and Gondia. The state of Maharashtra goes to polls in October 2019. The BJP is likely to face the election in alliance with the Shiv Sena, while the Congress may team up with the NCP.
