Delhi Wakf Board to open 16 English medium schools

NEW DELHI: In a bid to provide quality education and prepare for the competitive world, Delhi Waqf Board decided to create English medium schools for the underprivileged children in the capital.

According to a reported published in The New Indian Express, the board has planned to set up 16 English medium primary and middle schools will comes up in the Muslim dominated areas.

The proposed schools will come up in Okhla, Seelampur, Babarpur, Matia Mahal, Ballimaran, Basti Hazrat Nizamuddin and Gandhi Nagar.

“Modelled on ‘Delhi Public School’, these English medium schools will solely be for underprivileged children. They will get free education, course material and uniform. Our objective is to produce well-educated citizens for the country. I feel education is the only solution to every problem plaguing the country,” said Himal Akhtar, a member of the board.

This is for the first time, the Waqf Board has ventured into the education sector.

The process of hiring 160 teachers and 40 other staff members and has already started and the board has so far conducted 1,700 interviews.

These schools will be open on the properties owned by the Board and some on the rented properties.
