It said winds over the Arabian Sea were very strong (45-55kmph) and low-level convergence was taking place along Maharashtra-south Gujarat coasts.

This has increased the rainfall activity in Maharashtra, including all subdivisions - Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Marathwada.
The pressure gradient (difference) over the Arabian Sea, off Maharashtra-Goa coast, and strong westerlies pumping in moisture from the Arabian sea are also causing an intensification in rain in the state. There is a good volume of moisture incursion over the Konkan-Goa region as well as the ghats of Madhya Maharashtra, Kashyapi said.
As per an IMD special report on monsoon, it was active in Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Vidarbha and vigorous over Marathwada on Saturday.
