It was for the second time since the heavy downpour on Wednesday that the reptile was found from the residential society near the Lalbaug lake.

In complete dark, a team of rescuers from forest department managed to capture the crocodile which had reached entrance gate of a house.
“Our RFO had received a call from a resident of the society about the presence of a crocodile after which our team had reached the spot and rescued the crocodile,” said Nitin Patel, rescuer from the forest department.

“This society is located right adjacent to Lalbaug lake. Whenever, there is a heavy downpour during monsoon, crocodiles from the lake come out,” he said, adding that the crocodile which was rescued was 4.5 foot long. Before three years, a crocodile had even entered bathroom of a house in the society.
At another residential society in Vadsar, a 10-foot crocodile created quite a buzz as people watched the reptile’s movement from their balconies. Residents of Shreeji society at Vadsar had found the crocodile as the waters receded in the locality on Saturday.
The crocodile was sighted when some of the residents were returning to their homes from nearby relief camp. The residents contacted the local police which in turn informed the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the local wildlife activists.
When the rescue teams reached the spot, they had hard time controlling the crocodile which was hastily moving to and fro. Finally, a man threw a jut bag on its face after which the reptile was captured.
