LUCKNOW: Four bike-borne masked men shot dead the husband of a sitting pradhan barely few metres from
Walipur police outpost in broad daylight on Sunday.
The incident took place in
Sultanpur district which is 100 kms from the state capital.
Police said that the victim,
Suresh Yadav (35), was a
history-sheeter and also booked under Gangster Act.
At around 12.10 pm, when Yadav along with his two aides, also history-sheeters, were having tea near Walipur police outpost, four armed assailants opened fire on Yadav.
Suresh Yadav suffered multiple bullet injuries in the attack.
Before fleeing they also fired at his two aides while police were nowhere to be seen.
Later, commuters informed control room and the district police chief himself reached the spot.
Sultanpur SP Himanshu Kumar told TOI that Yadav was declared brought dead at the district hospital while his two aides are recuperating at the hospital.
Yadav's wife, Sanjana, is village head of Hemnapur. "We are yet to get any official complaint in connection with this incident," said Kumar.
He also said that Yadav and his aides were accused in a murder case of 2012 and were out on bail, four teams have been made to nab the assailants, he said.
