Yusuf Pathan serves food to Vadodara flood victims, earns praise for noble gesture

At a time when Vadodara is battling with heavy rains and floods, former India cricketer Yusuf Pathan stepped forward to help the flood-hit victims of the city.

Heavy rains in parts of the country have wreaked havoc in some States and have brought normal functioning of life to a standstill. Gujarat's Vadodara also received unprecedented downpour that left the city flooded for weeks.

In such an emergency situation, the Army is currently helping to evacuate the stranded. Many individuals and organisations have also stepped forward to help the affected people. Former Indian cricketers Yusuf Pathan and Irfan Pathan, who are the residents of Vadodara, were also seen doing their bit to help out the flood victims.

In some visuals that have surfaced, Yusuf Pathan was seen serving food to the victims while Irfan Pathan is said to be helping out the flood affected with accommodation.

The noble gesture from the Pathan brothers has won millions of hearts on the Internet.

Vadodara and surrounding areas in central Gujarat have been pounded by heavy rains over the past few days. On July 31, the city recorded a historic 554 mm of rain in just 12 hours.

NDRF teams continued rescue operations in the flooded and low-lying areas of the city. Five people died and over 5,700 were evacuated after Vadodara witnessed 500 mm of rain in 24 hours till Thursday morning.

With the city already waiting for the flood water to recede, it received another spell of heavy rain on Saturday afternoon, with 2.5 inches of rain (about 64 mm) falling in just a span of two hours.
