Four children die in Banka wall collapse

Four children, in the age of 4 to 6 years, died in a wall collapse at Tilari village under Dhoraiya police station in Banka district on Sunday. Two other children, who were badly injured, have been admitted to a government hospital in Banka.

BANKA: Four children, in the age of 4 to 6 years, died in a wall collapse at Tilari village under Dhoraiya police station in Banka district on Sunday. Two other children, who were badly injured, have been admitted to a government hospital in Banka.
According to reports reaching here, due to incessant rain, the wall of an abandoned, dilapidated thatched house, where heaps of sand bags were stocked, fell on them while they were playing near the house.

The deceased children have been identified as Sonakshi, Meenakshi, Saloni and Prince. Sonakshi and Meenakshi were daughters of Ranjit Yadav, while two others belonged to two neighbouring families. Block development officer (BDO) of Dhoraiya block Abhinav Bharti, who along with the SHO of Dhoraiya PS and others rushed to the spot to pacify the agitated residents.
“Recommendation for payment of Rs 4 lakh as ex-gratia to family members of each of the victim has been made,” said Bharti adding, “The amount will be released after the postmortem report is submitted. Cash amount of Rs 3,000 for every victim under Kabir Anteyeshti Anudan Yojana has been given to the families,” the SHO added.
Meanwhile, a pal of gloom descended on the village.
