HUBBALLI: Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa has said that a complete report on crop loss and damage caused due to flooding of river Krishna would be sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi within two days.
He was speaking to reporters after conducting an aerial survey at the Yermarus Inspection Bungalow near Raichur on Monday.
He said he would be visiting Delhi on Monday night and would meet Modi and other ministers and convince them about the flood situation in the state and seek funds from the Centre.
He assured the farmers that compensation for their crop loss would be provided once the flood subsides in the area and requested them not to be panic.
Quoting sources, Yediyurappa said, “In Raichur district, as of now, floods have damaged 300 hectares of agricultural land. All the facilities will be provided to the Ashraya houses built after flood situation in 2009 after an inspection and more Ashraya houses will be built."
The chief minister promised that the government would provide all possible help to the people of the flood-affected area. Rescue and rehabilitation work would be taken on war-footing. Yediyurappa said that there was no dearth of funds to take up relief works. The government would provide funds if necessary from other sources to the affected people.
He said the inflow of water to the Narayanpur dam has increased to 2.90 lakh cusec whereas outflow has increased from 2.72 cusecs to 2.90 lakh. Fourteen families living in a village in Devadurga taluk was surrounded by the water and all the efforts are being made rescue those families.

He said that two bridges -- one in Devadurg taluk and another in Lingasugur -- were submerged in river water. Fifty-one villages on the banks of river Krishna were affected by the flood. Villagers have been giving necessary instruction and update on water flow and they have been supplied with food grains and necessary medicines, he said.
He said that he would hold the aerial survey in Vijaypura and Bagalkot district till evening. He clarified that he had not made any delay in visiting the flood-affected area. “I have been getting the information on flood situation immediately after assuming charge and held a detailed video conference with the deputy commissioners of flood-affected districts. Now personally, I have the first-hand information on the flood situation and will ask the Union Government to grant the funds liberally,” he said.
