Madhya Pradesh government to ensure return of Khandwa youth from Pakistan: Kamal Nath
BHOPAL: A day after mother of Raju Laxman Bheel, who is reportedly in Pakistan jail for spying on nuclear enrichment facility, urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the safe return of her 30-year-old mentally challenged son, chief minister Kamal Nath said the government would make all possible efforts to bring the youth back to India. Nath said that instructions have been issued to contact the external affairs ministry to take up the matter with Pakistan.
"The family of Raju Laxman suspects that the Raju, a resident of Indhavadi village in Khandwa district, is in Pakistan jail.
Instructions have been issued to officials of the district administration to contact the family immediately and provide all possible help", said chief minister Kamal Nath in a social media post.
Nath said, "In case the missing person has reached Pakistan, the state government will contact the external affairs ministry to make all possible efforts to bring the youth back to India".
A day earlier, Raju's 50-year-old mother Basanta Bai had appealed to the Prime Minister for the safe return of her mentally-ill son. “The man is shown in pictures as an Indian spy arrested in Pakistan is my elder son Raju. He is mentally ill and is missing for three months. I urge our PM Modiji to bring back my son from Pakistan,” said Basanta Bai.
On August 1, the Pakistan police claimed that they had arrested an Indian spy identified as Rajo, aka Raju Laxman, for spying on nuclear enrichment facility in Rakhi Gaj area of Dera Ghazi Khan district in eastern Punjab province.
Pakistan police said Laxman was arrested on July 29 while entering the Dera Ghazi from Balochistan province.
Raju's father Laxman and brother Dilip had also met state medical education minister Vijayalaxmi Sadho to take up the issue with chief minister Kamal Nath. In the recent past, two youths Budhram Marko from Dindori district and Jitendra Arjunwar from Seoni district were found languishing in Pakistani jails. Recently, a 26-year-old mentally challenged Anil Kumar Saket who went missing from Rewa district in January 2015 was found lodged at a jail in Lahore. The state government is likely to look into all these cases, said sources in Mantralaya.
