AGRA: Just over a month after UP Bar Council chairperson Darvesh Yadav was shot dead on district court premises in Agra, another woman lawyer was found dead with five bullet injuries at her home in Police Lines Extension in Etah on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Nutan Yadav (35), who was serving as an assistant prosecution officer at the ACJM I court in Jalesar. According to police, the murder came to light on Tuesday morning when the house help of the lawyer found her lying dead on the bed.
Hailing from Kushalpur village in Agra, the victim was living with her younger brother Raghvendra Yadav in a government accommodation at Etah Police Lines Extension for the past one year.
On Saturday, her brother had gone to Agra for some personal work. As she was a government counsel, Nutan had been allotted an accommodation in Police Lines which is just a few meteres away from the UP 100 office and Mahila police station.
Etah superintendent of police Swapnil Mamgain said, "Nutan's body was found in her room on the first floor of the government flat. Her autopsy report has confirmed that she was shot five times - once on the face and four times on the right side of torso. Prima facie there is no evidence of any rape attempt."
In a police complaint, Raghvendra alleged that Nutan's friend Dhanpal Yadav and his associate Bharat Singh, both hailing from Kushalpur village, were behind the murder. It states, "Dhanpal had been a friend of Nutan for the past 15 years and would often visit her at the government accommodation in my absence. Recently, he came to know about our family decision to get Nutan married to another person after which he threatened to commit suicide." He also claimed that Dhanpal had asked Nutan's house help to take leave on Monday while Singh got confirmed the time Raghvendra was supposed to return to Etah. Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against Dhanpal Yadav and Bharat Singh under sections 302 (murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC.

The SP said, "The murder was most probably executed by someone very close to her. A police team is investigating the matter. We are collecting the CCTV footage of nearby buildings and call record details of the victim to identify the attacker."
"We have recovered five .32 bore cartridges from the spot. However, no one heard any gunshots. Our assumption is that the killer shot her from point-blank range and the noise coming out of jumbo size cooler in the flat might be the reason why the neighbours could not hear any sound of gun shot," he added.
The forensic team collected fingerprint samples and other related evidence from the spot. Etah Nagar Kotwali station house officer Ashok Kumar said, "Nutan's family has alleged that a family friend, Dhanpal might have killed her. We are now on the lookout for him and his associate."
Nutan was the daughter of Agra-based lawyer Jagdish Prasad Yadav. After from her job, she was also preparing for higher judicial services in Etah.
