A sensational double murder of a septuagenarian woman and her daughter-in-law shocked the resident of UP's Firozabad city on Thursday.

AGRA: A sensational double murder of a septuagenarian woman and her daughter-in-law has shocked the resident of UP's Firozabad city on Thursday.
The incident took place in Gully number four of New Rasoolpur colony of Rasoolpur police jurisdiction at around 10:30am. The victims were identified as Shiv Devi (72) and her daughter-in-law Rani Devi (35). Shiv Devi’s elder son Dr LK Gupta is a paediatrician in a government hospital, while her younger son and husband of the deceased victim Rani, Amit Gupta, works in private clinic.
At the time of incident, only two victms, along with a one-year-old son of Rani were present in the home.

double murder superintendent of police Firozabad Sachindra Patel said, “Murder for loot cannot be ruled out. The victims’ throat were slit with sharp instrument. The police team has got a good lead after scanning CCTV footage of the locality. An FIR has been lodged against unidentified persons under IPC sections 302 (murder).”
A neighbour of the victim on the anonymity said, ”A man was found knocking the door of the victims' home at around 10:30am. Later he went inside but never came out, suggesting that he escaped from roof after murdering the two women.”
According to sources, police have detained a carpenter who was working in the victim’s house for the last few days. The police suspect that the accused was involved in the murder.
