Howrah: Biker’s throat slashed by Chinese manja

A resident of Shibpur in Howrah was injured after his throat was slashed by a kite string with Chinese manja on the approach road of second Hooghly bridge near Nabanna on Friday evening. The man, Md Gufran (42), had to undergo four stitches on his throat. He also sustained injury on his left hand. He lodged a complaint with both Hastings and Shibpur police stations.

HOWRAH: A resident of Shibpur in Howrah was injured after his throat was slashed by a kite string with Chinese manja on the approach road of second Hooghly bridge near Nabanna on Friday evening. The man, Md Gufran (42), had to undergo four stitches on his throat. He also sustained injury on his left hand. He lodged a complaint with both Hastings and Shibpur police stations.
Around 5.30pm on Friday, Gufran who was riding a bike was about to take the city-bound lane of second Hooghly bridge to reach Alimuddin Street.
“One of my relatives died, so I was going to Alimuddin Street. I was riding the bike at a normal speed and suddenly I felt like somebody slashing my throat with a knife. I clasped my throat with hand and felt tremendous pain as blood was gushing out profusely,” he said.
“Somehow I managed to tie my throat with a piece of cloth. Luckily, a traffic sergeant saw me and took me to the hospital where I had to take four stitches,” he added.
