UP: Co-accused in Etah woman lawyer’s murder arrested

AGRA: Four days after a woman assistant prosecution officer of Etah was found dead with five bullet injuries at her home in Police Lines Extension in Etah, a man named as co-accused in the FIR was arrested on Saturday.
Identified as Bharat Singh, the accused is a neighbour of victim, Nutan Yadav (32). She originally hailed from Kushalpur village under the jurisdiction of Barhan police station in Agra district.
Rahul Kumar, additional superintendent of police (crime), Etah, said, “Bharat Singh is a co-accused in the case. He helped the main accused, Dhanpal Yadav, also a neighbour of the victim, to eliminate her. Police teams are continuously conducting raids to nab Dhanpal Yadav.”
Raghvendra Yadav, 20, younger brother of Nutan Yadav, had earlier said in his complaint, “Dhanpal has been a friend of Nutan for the past 15 years and would often visit her at her government accommodation in my absence. Recently, he came to know that our family had decided to get Nutan married in a well-to-do family. After which, he had threatened to kill my sister.”
Raghvendra, who is preparing for public service exam for securing a government job, lived with his sister at her residence in Etah. But two days before Nutan’s murder, he had gone home for some work.
In his police complaint, Raghvendra had alleged that Dhanpal Yadav had asked Nutan’s house help to take leave on Monday evening, the day of the murder. Nutun’s bullet-ridden body was found on Tuesday morning in her room. Police had recovered .32 bore cartridges from the spot.
Police have learnt that on Monday evening, Bharat had called Raghvendra to know his whereabouts to confirm if Nutan would be alone at home.
Based on Raghvendra’s complaint, police had registered a case against Dhanpal Yadav and Bharat Singh under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).
