NEW DELHI: Delhi Police Crime Branch has been tasked to investigate the alleged rape of a 21-year-old Jawaharlal Nehru University student. The survivor had alleged that she was raped by a cab driver while returning to JNU from Mandir Marg during the early hours of August 3. She claimed that the incident happened near a bus stop on Nelson Mandela Marg in south Delhi.
However, the cops have not identified the cab driver yet.
They claimed that the student had reached Vasant Kunj police station from the university. This is being verified through CCTV footage.
The woman had alleged that she was asked to come back to the police station to get her complaint registered and her request for a woman cop to escort her till JNU was also allegedly denied. Police have also recovered her salwar and purse that the woman claimed had gone missing during the assault from the terrace of her college hostel.
