A day after gang-rape, minor girl commits suicide in Warangal

HYDERABAD: A day after being allegedly gang-raped by two men, the 15-year-old girl committed suicide on Sunday in Warangal.
A senior Warangal police official said that the minor girl, a Class 9 student, hanged herself from the ceiling in the absence of her grandmother. Though, she did not leave any suicide note, but based on a complaint by her grandmother, a case was registered under the Sections 376 (rape) and 306 (abetement to suicide) of IPC, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act by Kakatiya University police.
According to police, two accused who are known to the victim, came to her residence on Saturday morning and took her on a bike. She was taken to the outskirts of Warangal, where she was allegedly gang-raped. In the evening she was brought back to her residence by the accused.
After being questioned by her grandmother about her absence from the house for the whole day, the girl narrated her ordeal. According to the grandmother, the girl told her on Saturday night that the accused should get strict punishment.
It was on Sunday morning, when the grandmother went to washroom, the minor girl committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling.
The girl’s father had died few years ago and since then she has been residing with her grandmother. Both the suspects were taken into custody by the police and were questioned by the police.
