Prime accused in Etah lawyer’s murder arrested

AGRA: A week after an Etah woman assistant prosecution officer, Nutan Yadav, was shot dead at her residence, the prime accused, Dhanpal Yadav, was arrested on Tuesday and his licensed revolver used for the murder seized from him.
A resident of Kushalpur village under the jurisdiction of Barhana police station in Agra district, Dhanpal Yadav, 49, was absconding after he allegedly pumped five bullets into the lawyer.
Etah police had announced a Rs 25,000 reward on his capture.
Rahul Kumar, superintendent of police (crime), Etah, said, “Accused Dhanpal Yadav was enraged after the lawyer’s parents fixed her marriage. The duo knew each other for 20 years.”
During interrogation, Dhanpal Yadav claimed that he had spent Rs 25 lakh on Nutan’s education and taken care of other expenses. He said he mortgaged his dairy business and took loan of Rs 10 lakh besides selling jewellery belonging to his wife and daughter-in-law to fulfill Nutan’s demands.
“The accused had planned to eliminate the lawyer after she started avoiding him. He took help of his friend, Bharat Singh, to keep a tab on her whereabouts. Following which, on August 5, he went to her residence and confronted her, before pumping five bullets into her body,” SP Kumar said.
On Tuesday accused Dhanpal yadav was presented in the district court and later he was sent to jail. Police will now terminate the accused weapon license as well.
