SECUNDERABAD: Two persons, including a fuel tanker owner, were arrested on Thursday for allegedly pilfering 20 litres of petrol from a tanker at Mallapur. Rachakonda police arrested M Ganesh, 50, from Mallapur and an oil tanker vehicle owner, G Narayana (42), a driver from Zaheerabad.
According to cops, Ganesh, who owned the petrol tanker vehicle, had given the vehicle on rental basis to Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited to transport the fuel from one place to another.

“On Thursday, Ganesh had parked the vehicle in an open plot at Gokul Nagar in Mallapur. Ganesh along with his driver were seen by some passerby stealing petrol in jerrycans. The locals alerted cops. The vehicle was carrying 20,000 litres of petrol,” Nacharam sub-inspector Venkat Reddy said. After questioning the duo revealed that while carrying fuel for BPCL, they would steal petrol in 20-litre to 40-litre cans and sell it for less price to earn extra money.
“The duo sell petrol for Rs 10 less a litre than the market price,” the SI added. The duo was booked for cheating, theft and sections of the Essential Commodities Act.
