PATNA: Newly-elected CPI general secretary D Raja will inaugurate the party’s four-day training camp meant for its state council members at Muzaffarpur on August 23.
“It will be the first visit of Raja to the state after he was unanimously chosen as the party’s general secretary. His stress is on expanding the organisation,” state CPI executive committee member Ram Babu Kumar said.
As many as 150 state council members from across the state are expected to participate in the training camp.

The ideologically trained state council members, in turn, will impart training to the party’s district council members..
Kumar said the subjects to be taken up at the four-day training camp include national and international economic and political situation, retrenchment of employees and privatization of public sector undertakings and banks.
Among the speakers will be party’s prominent ideologue Anil Rajimwale and national secretary B Kango, among others.
Other Left parties in the state, like CPI(ML) and CPM, have also taken up programmes for the mass outreach till November. The mainstream parties – JD(U), BJP, RJD and Congress – have also launched their membership drive which would culminate in their organizational elections during October-November.
The attention of the non-NDA parties, along with the Left, is on building their respective organisations as they were totally decimated in the recently concluded parliamentary elections, in which the BJP and JD(U) together won 39 of the 40 seats, while the Congress managed to win only one. Further, the state assembly elections are due next year in October-November.
