Caspian Economic Forum. The Kyrgyz delegation headed by the country’s Vice Prime Minister Zamirbek Askarov took part in the First Caspian Economic Forum in Avaza tourist zone in Turkmenistan.

Askarov said that this is a fact-finding visit aimed to determine the areas of cooperation with the states of the Caspian region.

“Currently, we are negotiating with the on the supply of Kyrgyz agricultural products to Turkmenistan in exchange of electricity,” he said.

About GDP. The gross domestic product of Kyrgyzstan for the period January-July 2019 amounted to KGS 284.4 billion, an increase of 6.9% compared to January-July last year.

According to the National Statistics Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, excluding enterprises developing the Kumtor deposit, the volume of GDP amounted to KGS 251.8 billion, exceeding the level of January-July last year by 3.1%.

GDP growth was mainly provided by industries, construction, agriculture and services. At the same time, the growth rate of the commodity production branches compared to January-July of the last year amounted to 113.0% (in January-July 2018 - 97.9%), the sectors that provide services - 102.3% (in January-July 2018 years - 101.6%).

Start-up projects in the regions. In order to implement measures to develop the regions of Kyrgyzstan, the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund is launching a pilot program for financing startup projects for small businesses in all regions of the country except Bishkek.

This project is being implemented jointly with partner banks, such as RSK Bank, Aiyl Bank, Bakai Bank. At the same time, the Guarantee Fund OJSC will provide guarantees to entrepreneurs whose startup projects will be selected for financing.

The program is designed for everyone who plans to start a business and is aimed at acquiring fixed assets (modernization, overhaul) in priority sectors of the economy, such as agricultural processing, clothing and textile industry, manufacturing and manufacturing industry, tourism, IT technology.

Toll roads. In Kyrgyzstan in 2021-2022 some roads in the country will become toll.

Deputy Minister of Transport and Roads of the Kyrgyz Republic Bakyt Berdaliev said that an expert group is working that will determine the areas that will become paid for transport.

In addition, the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Kyrgyz Republic plans to introduce payment for freight and passenger vehicles. What will be the tariffs is not yet determined.

Revenue growth. This week it was announced that the nominal cash income of the population in the first quarter of 2019 amounted to KGS 108 billion.

According to the National Statistics Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, the country's population incomes increased by 13.6%.

At the same time, the main source of cash income for the population was labor income, which accounted for more than 70% of the total income.

Compared to the corresponding period of 2018, real cash incomes of the population increased by 14.0%.

The first business ombudsman. The first business ombudsman was elected in Kyrgyzstan this week. Former British ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Robin Ord-Smith became the business ombudsman.

100 people claimed to this position, 17 of which were foreign nationals.

Five people were selected in the final interview. In the end, a strong candidate won.

Lower rates. This week, the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund announced a reduction in interest rates on loans in national currency.

The Fund’s policy is aimed at supporting domestic entrepreneurs, and therefore it was decided to lower interest rates on loans.

The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund maximally takes into account the interests of small and medium-sized businesses, offering favorable financing conditions through partner banks and microfinance organizations.

The interest rate on financing in national currency was reduced from 10% to 9% per annum in priority sectors, such as agriculture, light industry, mechanical engineering, etc. And for financing projects to improve tourism infrastructure in Bishkek and education infrastructure, the rate was reduced to 11% per annum (previously amounted to 12%).
