Lifeguards temporarily shut down multiple Cape Cod beaches Sunday because of great white shark sightings.

Head of the Meadow Beach in Truro was closed around 12:30 p.m.

“The water at the protected beach will be closed for one hour,” the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy wrote on its website.

Earlier Sunday around 11 a.m., Wellfleet’s Marconi Beach was shut down for an hour because of a great white shark sighting.

All summer long, area beaches have been temporarily closed as the aquatic predators continue to lurk around the Cape.
