After months and months of speculation from fans, Bond 25 finally got an official title today. The latest entry in the never-ending franchise, and Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007, is to be called No Time To Die. Following up on this reveal, Sony has now dropped a new synopsis for the pic, which promises Bond coming out of retirement to foil one last threat to the world.

Similar to previous plot information, this description teases that Bond’s been out of the spy game for a while, enjoying life in the sun with Madeline Swann (Lea Seydoux), until Jeffrey Wright’s Felix Leiter calls him back into the fray and onto the trail of a mysterious villain (presumably Rami Malek).

“In NO TIME TO DIE, Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.”

No Time To Die, as we can now call it, has taken its sweet time in getting to the screen. At first, Danny Boyle was set to put his own unique stamp on the franchise, until he departed over creative differences. Cary Fukunaga then stepped in to helm the movie, with Craig himself insisting that Killing Eve creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge be brought on to freshen up the script. Waller-Bridge has said that she’s particularly keen to flesh out the female characters in the film, too.

In fact, it seems No Time To Die might be the most feminist Bond yet, as it’s been reported that Lashana Lynch’s character will be introduced as the new 007, as in the MI6 agent who’s taken over James’ spot since his retirement. So, while this news caused a lot of folks to get up in arms, that doesn’t mean Lashana’s set to replace Craig.

No Time To Die finally hits theaters on April 8th, 2020.
